El Paso, TX – The Patriot under 16 boy’s endured extreme heat and five games to take the top spot in the International Soccer Store, El Paso Cup 2008 tournament. With all games being played at San Elizario High School the Patriots tallied a weekend total of fifteen goals while only giving up two. The team posted four shutouts with only one loss to the under 16 Texas Fire, the same team the Patriots would come back to beat to take the top spot.
The Patriot team coached by Enrique “Kiki” Cervantes has once again proven that this is the team to beat in
El Paso and is rapidly becoming the future Patriot stars. “After dropping the first game of the weekend, the boys battled back in dominating fashion”, commented Cervantes. “Not only did we not lose another game, but we held each team scoreless”. “I am so proud of this team”, he added.
Notable players on the roster are Fransico De Anda, Jonathon Camarena, Dominick Green and Josh Frick. “All of the boys played so well”, added Cervantes. “We are now ready to take the next step forward”.
The team received a team trophy and all players received medals and new uniforms sponsored by International Soccer Store. The Patriot U16’s will now move up to the under 17 bracket and will start their new season in September.
