El Paso, TX - May 2, 2009 - The El Paso Patriots opened their 2009 season with a victory over the West Texas Sockers by a score of 2-0.  The West Texas Sockers are coached my former El Paso Patiots Head Coach Jesus "Chuy" Enriquez.  The El Paso Patriots Interim Head Coach is Hugo Samano. 

El Paso’s first goal came in the 23th minute with a great shot by midfielder Enrique Cervantes.  The second goal came in the 54th minute with a shot from outside the penalty box by Forward Michael Greigo.

The win gives the Patriots 3 points and currently sits in first place of the Mid South Division.

The Patriots next home game will be Saturday, May 9 vs the Rio Grande Valley Bravos at Patriot Stadium.  Game time is set for 8:00 pm
