USL News Release

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

TAMPA, FL – United Soccer Leagues announced today the PDL Team of the Week for the fourth week of the USL season, honoring the Lancaster Rattlers’ Mauricio Harrie as Player of the Week.  Harrie’s two goals and one assist in a 3-2 come from-behind victory over the Legends in Los Angeles outpaced the other 10 members of the Team of the Week.

Midfielder Enrique Cervantes helped El Paso to a 2-0 victory over their rivals the West Texas Sockers in their 2009 season opener.  Cervantes scored the opening goal in the 23 minute when he found the back of the net and leaving Sockers Goalkeeper Lief Craddock with no chance of a save.  The Second half was an explosion when in the 54th minute Forward Michael Griego scored the second goal of the night with a great shot passed the keeper.  Cervantes and Griego helped carry El Paso to the victory and also kept the Patriots in the lead of the Mid South Division.  The Patriots will try and take some momentum from their victory as they face their next rival the Rio Grande Valley Bravos on Saturday, May 9th at Patriot Stadium.  Kick off is set for 8p.m.  For more information on Patriot Soccer please visit elpaso-patriots.com or uslsoccer.com.
