El Paso, TX (May 21, 2009)-The El Paso Patriots travel to Central Texas today to play two crucial games this weekend. The El Paso Patriots will play the Austin Aztex (1-1-1) on Friday, May 22 at Dragon Stadium at 7:30p.m. central time. Concluding the Austin game, the El Paso Patriots will pack their bags and drive to Dallas Fort Worth where they will face off the DFW Tornados(1-1-0) on Saturday, May 23 at 7:30p.m. at Pennington Field. The Patriots are currently tied for first place in the Mid South Division with Laredo Heat.
Both of these matches are Open Cup qualifiers for the El Paso Patriots. The Patriots are currently in first place in the Open Cup standings with 6 points and Austin Aztex in second with 4 points. A win by either team could determine who will advance to the second round of the 2009 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup to be played on Tuesday, June 9.
